With equal doses of charisma and quick wit, Maz Compton has a proven track record as one of Australia’s foremost radio personalities and entertainment reporters. A leading authority and tastemaker in the music and youth genres, Maz has ten years experience on camera, radio, behind the scenes production, and hosting live events.
What started out as a passion for music and entertaining then gloriously landed her a dream job as a VJ with MTV. Maz was the original host of its flagship show Total Request Love (TRL) and anchored the VMA’s red carpet broadcasts.
During her 5 years with MTV, Maz travelled the globe, attending music festivals and shared the couch with all the big names including, Sandra Bullock, Margot Robbie. Sir Richard Branson and the Black Eyed Peas! Back in Australia she presented MTV Australia’s VMA and ARIA Red Carpet Specials and won the ASTRA for most popular female presenter in 2008.
In 2015, Maz headed to the US for RedBull TV to host the live TV events from music festivals Austin City Limits and Mad Decent, LA festival. The host of choice for red carpet events across music and film, Maz took the reigns of the Magic Mike XXL and Jason Bourne premiere red carpet specials.
In 2016, Maz launched her own digital interview series as the entertainment specialist with rebranded digital platform Yahoo 7 – Be. Her interviews with the likes of The Madden Brothers, The Veronica’s and personal training guru Kayla Itsines delivered on her goal of creating an interview series that had something important to say.
It’s 2017 and she’s written her first book, ‘UnEdited’ which is available online where you purchase all of your e-books,. A hilarious insight into the life Maz created in broadcast media in Australia, she candidly over shares some of her favourite memories in radio and tv, most of which happened when the microphones were off.
Maz recently launched a world first breakfast show concept, Alt-breakfast. Streamed live on Facebook each Wednesday morning from 715am (AEST), Maz sits down with her favourite people to discuss anything and everything with no producers, no hidden agenda and no filter.
